OUR ENGAGEMENT STORY...
This past Saturday Troy and I had plans to adopt kittens, but little did I know he had decided to buy a ring and propose to me. Because of our kitten plans, he and his brothers had to come up with an elaborate story. So early Saturday morning Troy's brother Jason called our house saying that his bathroom had leaked through to the living room ceiling. Troy said he had to go fix it. I was so understanding and felt so bad he had to work so I didn't even call him in fear of interrupting his work. But really during that whole time Troy, Jason and Bill were out buying my ring!
After Troy got home that afternoon we went to a couple pet stores looking for kittens but didn't find any. We got home to get ready for our dinner reservations. When I was in the shower Troy called my mom to let her know about the ring and that he might pop the question that night. Mom was so excited! I really had no idea.
We went to Stella Blu for my birthday dinner. While waiting for our table, we chatted with this really nice couple Jack and Peggy and I noticed Troy kept fidgeting with his coat pocket and after the third time I asked him what he was doing and he said that he kept loosing his phone.
We had an amazing dinner. Toward the end, Troy asked me "If I had a gift for you, would you want it on your birthday or tonight?"
I said, "Tonight, of course!?"
He started telling me random gift certificate items he bought me and I interrupted and said, "Isn't there anything I can open?"
He reached into his pocket saying, "See what you think about this!" and he slid the ring box over to my side of the table and then kind of handed it to me and the box tumbled into my hands!
I said, "What's this!?"
And he said with a huge smile "Jewelry!"
I had the box cupped in my hands and I peeked at it snapped the lid shut. Looked at him. Opened the box again. Shut the lid. I said "Are you serious?!" and I was holding the box, starring at Troy.
He said "Do you like it or not?"
I said, "Yes, of course!"
And then he said "Jen, will you marry me?"
And I got really hot and my face was wet with tears and I was smiling and he was smiling at me. I said, "YES!" but I was still holding the box with the ring inside!
Troy was like, "Are you going to put it on?!"
"Yes!" So I put it on and it was sparkling and I just couldn't believe what had just happened. The waitress came over and I exclaimed throwing my hand out for her to see, "I'm engaged!" She brought us champagne. Peggy and Jack, who ended up sitting near us bought us a yummy dessert to celebrate. The ring is absolutely gorgeous! 1.5 carat, round - simply beautiful. Troy did such a terrific job picking out! We called family after dinner. Our mom's were so happy for us. It was an exciting night. We're Engaged!

PS - Jason and Shelley's bathroom is just fine, nothing was wrong with it.

from mom: We are so happy and excited for you and the future to come. Seeing the ring on your finger makes it so real...without being able to see you in person. Dad would have nodded his approval and would have one huge "group hug" Troy and you have my and Don's blessings and much love. mom
