More yard work this weekend...

Troy was home this weekend so we took advantage of the nice weather and worked outside. We raked, moved stone, dug out a seedling growing fast, edged the sidewalk and driveway, trimmed down three bushes to pull, cut grass and weed whacked! We have a TON of stuff for trash day. I also weeded and planted in the front garden. We didn't want to buy too many plants this year so I'm using a lot of what was already in our yard and replanting it. The yellow tulips were a nice surprise from the old owners. A neighbor even gave me a purple cone plant. It looks so clean around the yard now. We even got "It looks beautiful" from a couple people on their evening walk Sunday night.

Back yard: Troy cleared out all the wood and stones around the weeping pine tree. Here is a pic of the garage that will be torn down soon to build a new!

Here are the remains of the 3 nasty bushes I cut down with clippers!

Hand-hewn gathering table

This is the table I want Troy to make for our dining room.
The seating will be enough for four on each side and two on each end.
Maybe a wedding gift?? (hint, hint)
Completely recycled, the golden teak-oiled top is made of reclaimed oak from Canadian whiskey tanks while the base is hand-hewn from old white oak barn beams. (http://www.sundancecatalog.com/)

This sounds like so much fun! Even to take the train up for the day!

Dirt Devil Broom Vac - this looks like exactly what I need for a quick clean up on the kitchen floor to pick up crumbs and cat hair in between when you really vaccuum and mop. What do you think? Do you have one? Does it work?
It comes in many colors - not sure which color I want. Maybe silver.

Some features:
• Sweeps and vacuums in one easy step• Powerful suction• Lightweight• Bagless
A review on Target:
I love this broom vac. I have three cats and one sheds a lot. It gets all the hair off the hardwood floors not just moving it around like a broom would. Great on cat litter and kitchen crumbs.Never regret buying it.
Weeds, weeds, and more weeds...
This is what took me 10 hours this weekend. It felt so great being outside in the sun getting my hands dirty. Troy was impressed because last year I would run away from every creepy crawly thing near or in our house. You can ask my mom, I'm not a weed puller but something about it being your own house and looking at the beautiful results feels good. I know, it looks like a lot of dirt and not too much planting but we're going to be building a new garage and getting a new driveway so I didn't want to go nuts with introducing new plants when some thing are going to get torn up but I did want to get rid of the weeds. All those weeds were probably holding the in the dirt so our first rain should be interesting. hahaha! I did plant a rose bush and tomato plants - Roma and Cherry. This side of the house gets tons of sun so I'm hoping for plenty of toms this season!

...and of course I couldn't leave out pics of the boys. Slate and Fin have found a new love for sitting in the windows (as I pray they don't break anything) and spending as much time with us as they can under feet in the kitchen and "talking" to us. Little do they know, they have their first vet appt this Wednesday!
